Spoonful’s ingredient guides bring our dietitian-reviewed ingredient notes and information onto the web. Each guide focuses on a named ingredient and identifies the diet covered by its note.
Where the information comes from
The dietitian note, ingredient description, other label names, common foods and questions come from Spoonful’s reviewed ingredient library. We preserve that wording when displaying it here. When a supported ingredient record is unavailable, we do not replace it with an automatically written answer.
The note addresses the diet named on the guide. The overview and questions add general ingredient information. These guides use our US diet guidance; a similarly named ingredient or a different diet can require a different answer.
Who is credited
“Note by” credits the author of that specific dietitian note. Where a named author is available and verified against the note, we show their name and credentials. Some notes are credited to Team Spoonful. A note credit does not mean that person separately reviewed every section of the page.

A guide explains an ingredient. It does not certify every product containing it or assess a whole package. Product results may also reflect a manufacturer’s claim or a testing or clinical-review exception, where the result says so. An ingredient explanation alone is not evidence that a finished product has been laboratory tested.
Read the current package and the qualifications in the product result. Use guidance from your clinician for your individual needs.
Further reading and updates
Each guide links to relevant public resources from health or food labeling agencies. These offer background on the topic; they are not presented as the original bibliography of the stored note or as an endorsement of Spoonful.
Guides reflect updates to our ingredient library. We do not display a clinical review date when one is not available, or use a website update date in its place.
