What is a Alpha-Gal diet?
An Alpha-Gal diet eliminates mammalian meat and products containing mammalian-derived ingredients to prevent allergic reactions in people with alpha-gal syndrome. This includes beef, pork, lamb, dairy products, gelatin, and certain medications derived from mammals. The condition involves a specific sugar molecule found in most mammals, often triggered after a tick bite. People may experience delayed allergic reactions 3-6 hours after consuming trigger foods. The diet focuses on safe alternatives like poultry, fish, and plant-based proteins. When followed carefully, often with guidance from an allergist or dietitian, it can prevent serious reactions while maintaining adequate nutrition.
Reviews
UNSAFE FOOD
Contains multiple ingredients that are 100% avoid for low fodmap. Do not trust, even small amounts.
Contains Onion Powder
This was green lighted because “ketchup has fortunately tested low FODMAP in a reasonable serve” but the Monash institute green lights US ketchup for less than a full serving. This is miss leading. If it’s less then a full serving it should be proceed with caution (yellow light).
Do Not Eat
This contains high fructose corn syrup. I can’t understand why this site would be encouraging people to eat it.
not ok in the USA
I'm pretty sure the European and UK ingredients are different from those in the USA. There is high fructose corn syrup in the USA version
Not LOW FODMAP
Has high fructose corn syrup... shouldn't be green light.
