What is a Gluten Free diet?

A gluten-free diet excludes all foods containing gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, rye, and their derivatives. It's essential for people with celiac disease, gluten intolerance, or wheat allergy, as consuming gluten can trigger inflammation and digestive issues. Common gluten-containing foods include bread, pasta, cereals, and baked goods, though many gluten-free alternatives now exist using rice, corn, or almond flour. Beyond medical necessity, some people choose a gluten-free lifestyle for perceived health benefits, though experts emphasize the importance of maintaining a balanced diet rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals when eliminating gluten-containing grains.

The Food That Got Me On This App

I’ve had IBS for a while but never thought bread could be such a bad trigger. I had pb&j’s two days in a row because this bread itself is very tasty, but had horrible bouts of IBS after eating it. I had two servings each day as sandwiches go and I’m sure the cherry jelly didn’t help. Long story short, I will never eat this bread again after the way it made me feel, but bread, which I love so much, being a bad trigger made me want to really change my ways and improve myself. So that’s an upside!
